In “Workshop 101,” a feature (in the April 2010 issue of Watercolor Artist) on getting the most from your workshop experience, we polled popular instructors on how students should enter a session. Below is a gallery of some of the beloved instructors’ works.
Birgit O’Connor (www.birgitoconnor.com) is a self-taught watercolor artist living in Bolinas, California, specializing in florals and landscapes. She’s a member of the California Watercolor Society, Northern California Chapter of the Women’s Caucus of Art, Marin Art Council, Bolinas Living Artists, Louisiana Watercolor Society, Who’s who in America and Who’s Who in American Woman. The artist has shown her work all over the world, including a one-woman show in Hong Kong. Her art is represented by galleries in Seattle, Washington, Palm Desert and Atherton, California.

Ratindra Das (http://ratindradas.net) is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society and six others, and holds master status in the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. He was one of 26 U.S. artists selected to exhibit in the first Invitational Exhibition of Contemporary International Watermedia Masters in Nanjing, China, in 2007, and has been appointed an honorary member of the Jiangsu Watercolor Research Institute.

Mary Alice Braukman (www.braukmanart.com), of St. Petersburg, Florida, works in mixed watermedia, collage and assemblages. A former public school art teacher and consultant in the Denver, Colorado, area, Braukman has also served as president and board member of the Florida Watercolor Society. She’s a former director of the Kanuga Watercolor Workshops, in Hendersonville, North Carolina, and is represented by galleries in Florida and South Carolina.
